So sorry for the mini rant, I'm just puzzled by culture sometimes.
I have way more WIPs going right now than I would like, to the point where they are causing me a little bit of anxiety. So, I'm enacting my tried and true method of dealing with most things in life:
Take it one step at a time. Simple.
This poor sweater is going to have to hibernate because I'm short about 50g to finish the neckline. How sad is that? I thought I would have enough yardage, but I forget how much yarn cabling eats up.
Update! My mother has secured an additional skein because she's the best!
I have also been slowly working on a couple rows a day on this blanket. This is exactly the same as a scrap blanket I finished a few years ago (which I still love, it hangs out on my couch). The yarn is some of the antique yarn my mother brought me that I used for Narragansett, it will be super warm!
I'm so close to finishing some socks I'm knitting out of my very own handspun yarn! The fiber was from a beautiful braid that Lisa (Wickedly Artsy) sent me some time ago. I still can hardly believe that I spun this!
That is gorgeous! I'm less battling and more embracing my onslaught of WIPs. I am currently trying to refrain from swatching for no fewer than 3 different sweaters. I am being quite a scattered knitter, but it's ok. Your sockk yarn is glorious!
ReplyDeleteI feel you about the Fall thing - sometimes it is really annoying when people follow the 'it has to be Autumn, its almost October!', when in reality we should all just take it easy and enjoy the weather and time as it is. :)

ReplyDeleteThat's the yarn that showed up on your door from overseas! Man, I love how those are looking, and so happy that you have a project for it. I agree, fall is weird this year. It's that time but I don't feel like we were eased into it.

ReplyDeleteIt is definitely fall here. Or rather it was winter last week and we are revisiting summer this week. 33 last week 85 today.
So glad you got more yarn to finish that sweater. It will be awesome when it is done! I'm in awe of your sock-weight handspun, too. Wow!

ReplyDeleteI just love those socks. I've found that handspun socks seems to hang onto color a bit better than dyed yarn. Have you found that to be the case with your socks?

ReplyDeleteI will definitely need to start a sweater now that fall is here. Here in Texas I wish it was fall. We had a small (one day) cold front come in that was amazing. I can't wait for fall. By the way, those green socks are amazing. Wish I could figure out how to make a ombre yarn instead of buying those expensive ones.

ReplyDeleteOooh, I love all your projects! I have to laugh about the fall comment--my friend just called me out on talking about it being fall even though we haven't hit the equinox yet. Psychologically once the fall semester hits summer is over for me, so I can't help but switch to "fall mode." :-D

ReplyDeleteI used to wonder how people had so many half done pairs of socks.......and somehow right now, I have SEVEN pairs of socks in progress. I've no idea how that happened, but I'm considering frogging one of the completed socks bc it's just too tight across the top of my foot. I don't care how pretty it is. If it's too uncomfortable to wear, I think it must go.
