I have decided to compete in four events this year with the overall goal being destashing:
I've suddenly been in a sock making kind of mood (it might have something to do with seeing so many of Andi's beautiful socks) and cast on a pair of vanilla socks using this yarn I hand dyed last month using egg dyes.
I've had a small skein of Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend sitting around for a while and desperately wanted to use it to make something I would use. I decided on a pair of fingerless mitts, which work really well with the yarn and don't require much yardage.
Perhaps my most ambitious project, which I may or may not conquer is knitting a Gemini top with this stashed, copper colored Hempathy I've been saving for something special. I'm probably going to have to order more yarn for this project (why did I have to leave Webs?), but that doesn't matter because it is a perfect match for the project.
Of course I cannot do anything without somehow working spinning in. So I started spinning up this disastrously hand dyed Cheviot wool, because I really want to see if dyeing it again after spinning might improve the color (ugh, pastels...).
I've got a lot that I'm working on, but I'm loving the challenge and the fun of knowing that I'm knitting and spinning alongside some really fantastic people from all across the world!
I have a weird thing about pastels too and don''t usually like them- but you know what that yarn is looking pretty darn good! No Ravelympics for me this time around but I'll be cheering you on!
ReplyDeleteHow very ambitious! I've never participated, but love seeing all the projects.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for so many events! I did not decide to do my LYS's Olympic project until this past Tuesday afternoon and then forgot to cast on until close to midnight Friday night. It is a quick knit and should be done soon. Although...it is super boring!!! It is the Everyday Wrap from Cocoknits. I hope to have it up as a WIP on Wednesday at www.fivecatsfromcrazy.com
ReplyDeleteYAY you for taking part in the Ravellenic games and I adore the projects you have chosen to make. How GORGEOUS is that silk blend....yum!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for linking to Andi's blog - I added her to my reader straight away
I am OBSESSED with that last fiber! Like cotton candy!
ReplyDeleteI have so many projects (and not all of them are knitting related) going right now I can't even begin to think of Ravellenic games. Can't wait to see the finished projects.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your Ravellenic Projects.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, best I get back to mine. Times a flyin'
hugs
Oh wow! I love that "sock put" sock. And I think that Cheviot will look much better once you over dye it.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't going to do the Ravellenics. I had to cast on a sock a day early for a different deadline, but I find myself watching the Olympics and knitting anyways. Funny how that happens.
Such fun projects. I LOVE your colors! The orange and blue socks are just beautiful and coming a long ever so fast! Congrats! The Ravellenics are going ok for me, I am still just doing my socks. But I will start a bag tonight!
ReplyDeleteLovely projects! I like the way your sock yarn is striping.
ReplyDeleteYour projects sound awesome. Good luck with the Ravellenic games
ReplyDeleteThey all look lovely, those mitts are going to be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThose socks are going to be so fun, Pumpkin! I love how your mitts yarn is so interesting w/that variegation. I think the Gemini top in that fall orange will be terrific. I can't wait to see the evolution of that.
ReplyDeleteAs for the pastels, I'm faintly reminded of cotton candy puffs in a rainbow of clouds and unicorns prancin' about.
All of your projects will be stunning--great patterns and even lovelier yarns. I really, really like your egg dye yarn--such cute socks those will be.

Good luck with your projects. The Gemini is now saved in the library, love the fact that it can be worn either way, also love the colour you have chosen. Not keen on the pastel yarn, though its spinning up better than it looks in the 'raw'
ReplyDeleteLove the silk blend and the copper colored Hempathy! The Cheviot wool makes me think of cotton candy......and that's a good thing! It would make a nice something or another for a baby gift.:D Don't ya just love gettin busy with lots of projects?!
ReplyDeleteoooh, Manos mitts will be so good (it's one of my very favourite yarns - and the colour you're using is gorgeous)
ReplyDeleteI know you consider the fibre to be dyed disastrously, but I absolutely love the way it is spinning up!
I hope you can fix the yarn you're spinning so you're happy with it. I'm not much of a pastels person either. :) The yarn for your mitts is gorgeous, they're really going to be stunning! I really love the yarn you're using for the socks, although the orange and blue makes me think of Irn Bru! Gemini is gorgeous, I hope you can get it done!
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that in just two hours you organized yourself enough to participate in 4 events! I'm watching from the sidelines and cheering for everyone. It's funny that you mention WEBS - my mother-in-law (who lives in Hatfield, MA) brought me a newspaper article recently about WEBS and all the owners have done! I live in North Central Mass, about an hour from N'hampton! Given the scope of the WWW it's always amazing to me when I make a connection with someone "local"! Have fun with your projects.
ReplyDeleteIt is all looking gorgeous! I love the yarn you are using for the mittens. It looks so luscious. I actually like your roving! But it will be interesting to see it when it's re-dyed.
ReplyDeleteHi! Loving the mitts yarn and the Gemini will be lovely - good luck on getting that all knitted!!
ReplyDeleteHave scrolled back to see posts I've missed lately and I LOVE the cashmere. Just can't wait to see this knitted up into something totally lovely...
That's a lot of projects !!! :D Good luck for the medals !
ReplyDeleteGreat projects! I love the colors of the roving, but I can understand if you don't like pastels. :)
