That's right! The sun has finally decided to return to the triad area of North Carolina!
So, I'm more energized and halfway decent photographs are now possible!
Knitting:
I attempted further work on my poor self-designed sweater...this did not go well. I'm still struggling with the shoulder/neckline shaping. At this point I'm positive that the key to shaping in this case is short rows.
I have also cast on a new project, one I've been dreaming of for a while now. These will be a lovely pair of Belle Epoque socks (sorry for lack of project photo right now, the hospital frowns upon the use of bandwidth for frivolous things so I am blogging from my phone today). ***Sorry for the confusion here, I'm perfectly fine, I work at the hospital because I'm a student at the medical school. Sorry!
Next I have the start of part of a BFF cowl that I'm knitting with the talented (and fellow scientist) Ashley from Misty Mountain Designs/Geoknitology. This is part of a KAL with Evelyn from Project: Stash, you all should find a buddy and participate too, it's a great way to connect with other knitters!
I hope that you are all having a great Wednesday and I hope that you also join in for WIP Wednesday with Tami's Amis.
Love your WIPS. Excited about those lovely socks.
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing ok. I hate to hear that you are in the hospital. Take care of yourself, I will be thinking of you.
Your projects are wonderful, especially love the colors. I've never made two socks on the same needles before: I might have to try that.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are knitting your socks on the two needles? I just visited Ashley's blog from the yarn along right before I popped over here. Have fun the BFF project.
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing okay. I think the pics turned out well but I am thinking of you. Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteloving the color of those socks, can't wait to see that and your bff project finished!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you clarified. I thought you were a patient as well. Glad to hear that you are fine.
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck with the shoulder shaping. I, too, have been trying to figure out how to shape shoulders for my Aunt's vest. I think I might be going with short rows as well. It's funny how shoulder shaping seems easy when you are following a pattern.
Love all the reds! Can't wait to see these FOs :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely projects, as usual. Glad the sun came your way again, I was thoroughly enjoying it myself today. The sun is my battery charger, I feel so good when it is out!
ReplyDeleteEverything is beautiful! I love those socks.
ReplyDeleteIts been lovely here today too. As usual your WIPs are great, lovely colours
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your BFF Cowl link. The yarn and color look gorgeous and it will be such a joy to wear! Please post it on our forum thread so everyone can ooh and ahh!
ReplyDeleteWonderful WIPS goin' on here, Pumpkin. When you blogged from your Blogger phone app, you're able to place the pics where you want to?
ReplyDeleteohh yummy colours!!Hope you can work out your sweater shaping, sometimes they need to just sit in the naughty corner for a while!
ReplyDeleteLooks like another amazing pair of socks! Do you own that book? Is it good? Also, saw the pics of the oreos, YUM!
ReplyDeleteLove the colour of your sock yarn - they are going to be cute!
ReplyDeleteI did double take when I read "hospital"! phew - just work :)
I;m glad the sun is shining on you! I think gills will be in order for me if it doesn't stop raining in MA!
ReplyDeleteSo even though this doesn't make any sense, my first thought when I saw the picture was that you're making a bikini!!
My co-worker told me that every year her grandmother would crochet bikinis for her and her two sisters (it was the 70s!). And while a bikini is a perfectly good project, it seemed out of character for you. Socks makes sense - and I'm sure you'll get much more use out of them!!
So that's where the sun went......if it had to leave us I'm glad it at least went your way!!! :-D I'm loving the socks! And they're toe up...I'm working on top down at the moment but I'm thinking I like the toe up better. Love the color too!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's going to be a pretty pair of socks.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the colours in your Azzu's Shawl.
Have a great weekend :)
Yay for sunshine! I love your color choices! Can't wait to see everything done! I'm glad you're doing well. Grad school has a tendency to eat people (myself included), but you sound like you've not been eaten and that's good. :)
ReplyDeleteI love knitting with friends, especially friends who would work on a knitalong or share other interests in life too.
ReplyDeleteYou did a fine job blogging on the phone. I've never done it yet, and hopefully don't have to!
Ooooh, those socks are going to be gorgeous... The yarn looks so squishy! I'm glad you hear everything's ok! And for some reason, short rows were just-- totally beyond my comprehension until very recently, I just couldn't understand the concept. But after reading a good article about them, something clicked and now I think they're so cool! I can't wait to see how you use them for your sweater!

Are these knee highs? I have been wanting to make a pair and even bought a book called Knitting Knee High Socks - you have inspired me to get going on a pair!
ReplyDeleteoh dear I still haven't been able to find the yarn -__- I've fallen so behind! I will make it up to you I promise!! I am cleaning some suri alpaca that I would love to send you some, I can't wait until we get to send one another our cowls! Sorry about my name confusion with the blog, I think I give up, lol
ReplyDeleteDon't give up on your sweater! You can do it! I can't wait to see what the socks look like and have fun knitting your BFF cowl!
