This is one of my Goals for 2013: Finish self-designed sweater. It has been sort of weighing on me for a while because I'm having such a difficult time figuring out how to finish it.
The problem is that I cannot for the life of me figure out what to do about the neckline! I've knit it and ripped it out again several times because it just looked wrong.
I know that you, my lovely readers are wonderful at providing advice, any suggestions?
I really hope to finish this sweater before it gets too much warmer, but I fear that I may already be too late as it was 60 degrees here today (believe me, I have the sunburns to prove it).
I love the texture that I've managed to get with this pattern, yet another reason I enjoy working with Ultra Alpaca!
I wish I could help but sweater knitting is not my forte! Have you tried a v-neck or maybe a shawl collar?
ReplyDeleteAlthough it might not be as warm for the winter months, I think a boat neck would look quite nice. Otherwise I'd go with the classic crew neck.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I am not the best for advice on sweaters. But I kinda like the boat idea Audry mentioned.
ReplyDeletethe boat neck looks wonderful on you, maybe some ribbing to finish it off?
ReplyDeleteHow about a classic crew neck with some lace details to make it interesting (like the Corrina sweater by Brooklyn Tweed) or a cowl collar?
ReplyDeleteIt definitely looks like its heading towards a boat neck!
ReplyDeleteI like the classic crew neck with lace details idea (like the Corrina sweater by Brooklyn Tweed). You could make the lace detail in that contrasting color in your sweater which btw, would look very nice with your hair color.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, you definitely would suit a boat neck and it's sort of where it's heading right now I guess. Have you been decreasing around the yoke, up the raglans or not at all so far? I can also see you with a cowl neck - it looks like it'd drape nicely.
ReplyDeleteI'd go with a boat neck or a fair-isle yoke, fits you well though
ReplyDeleteAs Sue mentioned, a boat neck definitely would work. The color and the fit are perfect for you.
ReplyDeleteAs I am not the queen of sweater knitting I can not offer any advice. The only thing I can say is that it looks wonderful on you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great so far. I hope you come up with a neck you really like. Both the crew neck and the boat neck suggestions sound good to me.

ReplyDeleteFor what kind of a neckline were you aiming in the first place?
ReplyDeleteI don't have any idea on how to design a sweater in the first place. So to me the fact you are this far is completely amazing! It fits you perfectly and I love that color on you. Whatever you end up doing I know it will look amazing.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what look you're going for with the neckline, so no suggestions. However I have to say the general shape and that gorgeous gorgeous green of the yarn are perfect.
ReplyDeleteI do remember! I've been waiting to see it. :) I think a v-neck or crew neck would look nice. If you did the crew, you could do the pattern around the neckline, too. It looks really pretty!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that you're almost done. I can't wait to see what you do as I know I'm late on catching up.
