The pattern is Effortless Cardigan by Hannah Fettig. I was a very quick knit and involved absolutely no seaming due to the top down construction. I enjoyed the process of knitting it and definitely find it comfortable to wear around the chilly lab. However, it is difficult to photograph in a way that doesn't look awkward. I have no complaints about the way that the pattern was written, it was very straightforward.
It is designed to wrap around for ultimate snuggliness too:
It is knit in Berroco Vintage dk, I decision that I actually regret for this pattern. It doesn't make for a very substantial fabric with the gauge and also really stretches. I think that the version shown with the pattern was knit with a yarn that has a lot less of a stretch. But even with those minor annoyances I still really like how the project turned out!
This was on my list of Fiber Goals for 2013: Effortless Cardigan. Another goal complete!
Also, I really enjoyed hearing about other strange house mysteries and encounters with fellow knitters/crocheters. I love meeting other knitters by chance, I feel like we instantly have a connection, where otherwise we probably never would have met.

Hmmm I had that same problem with mine. I used vintage also and I agree that it has gotten really stretchy. I like yours better, you just look good in that color! I wish I could somehow pin it un-awkwardly to stay wrapped, that's how I like it best. Mine is pilling now though, so it's pretty much my stay at home cardi.
ReplyDeletelove it! looks fab! do you need to pin it in place or is there a button I can't see!
ReplyDeleteI immediately judge people on whether they are crafters or not :D
Hmmm, that just may have to go on my favorites list. The color is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI may have add this sweater to my queue as well! I love the color too!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful finish in a color that looks fabulous on you.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting design: it looks comfy.
Stunning! It looks really comfortable too!

My sweater ended up with a lot of stretch too! It's not something I really thought about when picking the yarn/needles. I LOVE the color you picked though. Now I want to go out and buy some beautiful deep purple yarn.
ReplyDeleteThe big question, though, was it really effortless? :P
Way to conquer those goals!! The cardigan turned out great. I love that it wraps. How cool is that! Aren't kitties just the best?! One can learn a lot from those overactive kitty tails too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your cardigan, the colour is gorgeous on you!!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, looks so cosy and warm and I love the colour too.
ReplyDeleteLovely sweater! Looks nice on you and I love the color.
ReplyDeleteVery Pretty! I'll tell you a secret, I'm working on it too! I haven't picked it up in a while but need to get back to it. I'm modifying the sleeves so they will be 3/4 instead of long (I'm hot natured). It looks lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteI love the slouchy look of this cardi, and the color looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteYour sweater is beautiful! I love the color. It looks fantastic on you too:)
ReplyDeleteI love wrap around sweaters, so comfortable! I'm sure you'll get a lot of use out of this.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I have some store-bought sweaters in that shape that I wear all the time. Would be nice to have a wool one.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I love the color. You've talked me into using Quince and Co. for mine without talking to me at all. :) At least Vintage is super soft and cozy, yeah?
ReplyDeleteYou have a talent for finding the most gorgeous sweater patterns! Every time you knit a sweater I tell myself 'that's the greatest one she has knit so far, I'll definitely knit as my next big project!' and then you post another gorgeous sweater that's even more beautiful than the last one and I still haven't finished the tunic/dress thingy I've been knitting forever. So basically you make my queue explode and I have a really bad conscience for being such a slow knitter when it comes to sweaters. Or basically anything that's too big/complicated to knit in class.
ReplyDeleteDo you have another sweater in the making? I bet your next one is almost done ;)
I think the sweater looks pretty good in the photos. And that color looks great on you too!
ReplyDeleteLove the cardigan. It is going to be great come fall too when all you want to do is snuggle into something warm and soft. Love the comment about the cat on the first picture.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely fantastic on you girl! I like how it wraps around ou and has that asymmetrical hang.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely on you. I've just acquired the pattern and am deciding on the yarn amounts. I normally use a 40" size pattern; however this pattern has a 38.5" and 42" size. Having made it yourself, would you recommend going with the 38.5" or the 42"? I don't want it too snug, but don't want it too baggy either. Any help would be appreciated.
